GBE walls with the external formwork panel positioned first

 

This method describes the construction of a GBE wall with the external formwork panel positioned first.

This method must be adapted as necessary to comply with the installation recommendations, particularly the safety requirements, specified by the suppliers of the equipment and materials used to construct a GBE wall.

Phase 1:

  • Position the external formwork panel.
  • Install the reinforcement for the external concrete leaf.
  • NB: temporary support of the reinforcement for the external concrete leaf is provided using the methods selected by the contractor responsible for implementing the GBE System®.

Phase 2:

  • Prepare the insulation panels. This operation can be carried out in parallel with the other site activities.
    • Drill openings in line with the formwork tie-rod holes. The diameter of each opening must allow the complete GBE spacer to pass through the insulation panel.
    • Insert the GBE external connectors.
    • NB: the internal connectors will be installed at a later stage.

Phase 3:

  • Position the insulation panels with the GBE components assembled beforehand.
  • Install the structural reinforcement for the internal concrete leaf.
  • Tip: installing a small number of internal connectors before positioning the reinforcement bars and welded mesh can help support the reinforcement during this stage.

Phase 4:

  • Install the internal connectors.
  • Insert the assembled GBE spacers and end pieces through the openings provided for this purpose, in the orientation specified in the French Technical Assessment for the GBE System®.

Phase 5:

  • Position the internal formwork panel and the concrete placing hatches, then tighten the formwork in accordance with the formwork manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Place the concrete simultaneously for the external and internal concrete leaves.
  • NB: any components required on the internal face, such as starter boxes for slab reinforcement or electrical inserts, must be installed on the internal formwork panel before it is positioned to close the wall formwork.

  • Strip the formwork and remove the spacer end pieces.
